MARITA GREEN

I am a ceramicist, and the mother of two boys (9 and 7).
My creative history has been in clay sculpting, but I have more recently switched to making functional-ware. I’ve found making useful objects very satisfying.
I work on a (leg-powered) pottery wheel from the ‘60s and wedge my clay by hand. The manual process of my work is integral; I try to create objects as authentic and far-removed from factory-made-in-China as possible. I do not use molds, or any method of mass production.

Need-to-Know:
- I make to order; 6-8 weeks from order to delivery, (Invoiced on date of shipment).
- All functional-ware is food-safe. I only use food-safe commercial glazes.
- All my work is in Earthenware clays; I recommend hand washing and not microwaving for longevity.
- I have work stocked in New Plymouth (Kina NZ Design + Art Gallery), Taupo (Replete Café and Store) and Hamilton (Soul Gallery).
